Active travel refers to walking, cycling and includes trips made by wheelchair, mobility scooters, scooters and bicycles. Some refer active travel to include modes such as buses and car sharing to incorporate a holistic approach to tackling Climate Change, improving air quality for people and the environment across spaces.

Hunts Walking & Cycling Group:

Hunts Walking & Cycling Group was launched by Councillor John Morris in 2019. It is a volunteer-run community group with over 2,000 members. The group aims to improve conditions for people who cycle and walk in and around the towns of Huntingdon, Godmanchester, St Neots, St Ives and Ramsey, and surrounding villages. It is a volunteer-run community group that wants to make walking and cycling in Huntingdonshire safe, convenient, and accessible for everyone.

The group is a strong and independent voice for pedestrians and cyclists throughout Huntingdonshire, contributing to local plans and initiatives across Huntingdonshire!

Sustrans:

Sustrans is a UK walking an cycling charity that aims to help people to travel sustainability.

"[Sustrans] work for and with communities, helping them come to life by walking, wheeling and cycling to create healthier places and happier lives for everyone."

Sustrans supports the delivery of projects that improve the urban and rural environment for walking and cycling, and engages with people of all ages to enable them to be more active. You can find out more about the projects here.

Sustrans 'Paths for Everyone' reviews aim to create more inclusive and accessible paths, breaking down barriers for walkers and cyclists to fill their lungs with fresh air, moving towards their 2040 vision of paths for everyone. Read more here.

Camcycle (the Cambridge Cycling Campaign) is a local charity, which has been working for more, better and safer cycling in the Cambridge area since 1995. Members and volunteers campaign for paths, lanes, traffic signals, bridges and cycle parks in the region.
