What is Huntingdonshire Futures?

Huntingdonshire Futures is a new Place Strategy that is intended to shape a shared vision for the future of Huntingdonshire for the next 30 years. It will articulate Huntingdonshire’s aspirations and ambitions - taking into account its unique features, location, planned future growth, infrastructure requirements and technological advancements.

At the heart of Huntingdonshire Futures is understanding what is most important to residents, communities and stakeholders within our key towns and rural areas and across Huntingdonshire. This insight will enable the strategy to articulate our ambitions and aspirations for our place, people, economy, and the environment.

Why do we need Huntingdonshire Futures?

We are living in a world of change, and that change is getting faster as seen during the Covid-19 pandemic. We want to embrace this change to make sure we maximise the opportunities this presents. Huntingdonshire Futures will help us build on our strengths but also protect and preserve what is most important to our residents, communities and businesses now and for generations to come.

    Who will own Huntingdonshire Futures?

The development of Huntingdonshire Futures is one of Huntingdonshire District Council’s (HDC) priorities for 2022/23. While it is expected that HDC will ‘hold the ring’ in the development of Huntingdonshire Futures, this is a strategy that will be co-developed. It will look and feel different to previous HDC led strategies and plans. It will be developed and owned by all partners. Part of the approach will also be to ensure public feedback is heard by other agencies, to ensure that together we can influence better outcomes for our residents and communities, whilst recognising that we are operating in a tight fiscal environment.

    Is my view important?

Yes! This is an opportunity to help shape Huntingdonshire as a place to live, work and play for the next 25 to 30 years. By having your say you can help us ensure that we have a greater understanding of what is important to you and how that can influence future plans and projects.
