Local Plan Update

A local plan is a crucial blueprint for the future development of Huntingdonshire, it is a key delivery vehicle for the ambitions set out in the Huntingdonshire Futures Strategy and the Corporate Plan to 2028. It will include policies that will influence the development of Huntingdonshire over a long period (up to 2046).  It helps to address pressing issues such as climate change, housing affordability, lack of infrastructure, flooding and employment through identifying key areas for development to deliver homes, jobs and services, the scale and nature of these and creating policies against which planning applications are determined. 

The overarching ambition of the Local Plan is to achieve sustainable development; meeting the needs of the local community without compromising the needs of future generations. 

369 sites were submitted to the council for a range of uses such as residential and employment.

The deadline for responding to the consultation is Wednesday 27th November at 11:59pm (23:59pm). You will need to respond on the consultation portal. 

It is important to note, only some of the sites that have been assessed for development will be developed on in the future. 

We are still in a relatively early stage of the Local Plan process and the future inclusion of the sites within the Local Plan will depend on a range of factors such as the number of houses and jobs required to meet the needs of Huntingdonshire, the growth strategy, evidence bases, and of course, feedback we receive from residents and stakeholders during consultations.
