Huntingdonshire is a flourishing region and home to international businesses, small and medium sized local businesses. Sustainability and environmental responsibility is increasingly becoming the topic of conversation. This page is dedicated to provide a starting point for businesses looking to make a green transition.

Huntingdonshire District Council's Economic Development team created the business hub - Invest In Huntingdonshire. Here, you can find a range of support from funding and support to relevant news and stories.

The Economic Development team have a variety of experience within the business sector and believe that their:

"role is to support inward investment in our beautiful region and help companies looking to grow their businesses here to thrive. We aim to provide the truly integrated, high quality insight and guidance service that our business community need to enable them to prosper here."


Recently, the Economic Development team was successful in securing £755,000 to deliver business support over a 2.5 year timeframe. This includes launches of a number of schemes with free advice, consultancy, business diagnostics, plans and funding in a number of areas!

Did you know that the Economic Development team can help you and your business create a 5 year Net Zero roadmap?

Are you interested in reducing your carbon footprint, improving energy efficiency, cutting utility costs, and showing your customers how you are moving towards net zero? This programme is being run by Allia and PECT, who are local providers and specialists in this area. Find out more here.

Manufacturing Digitalisation:

Run by Paul Gibbons from HDC's Economic Development team and being delivered by Oxford Innovation, the scheme has free consultancy, diagnostic of the business priorities and proposes ways in which efficiencies can be made. Businesses can implement digital technology solutions such as, sensors on equipment and machinery to monitor heat loss/gain; inventory tracking for supply chain and lots more

Grants are available up to £3,500 for businesses to implement the improvements! Read more about the programme here.

Huntingdonshire District Council's Waste Minimisation Team also offers a free 1-2-1 session with them to help you minimise your business' waste and improve your carbon footprint!



Are you a farmer or own land? You may be eligible for Countryside Stewardship funding!

Countryside Stewardship (CS) provides financial incentives for farmers, foresters and land managers to look after and improve the environment. CS protects and enhances the natural environment by:

  • increasing biodivesity
  • improving habitat
  • expanding woodland areas
  • improving water quality
  • improving air quality
  • improving natural flood management

1. Have you taken stock of your Climate impact?

Use Local Partnerships greenhouse accounting tool and talk to the Economic Development team on how you would like to start to make a difference!

2. Is your money being used to fund Climate chaos?

Research your bank using bank.green's website to check whether your bank is financing fossil fuels!

3. Join the Sustainability School

About - Supply Chain Sustainability School (supplychainschool.co.uk)

The School is completely FREE and allows you to access training in a wealth of different areas including; Sustainability, Digital, FIR, Lean Construction, Management, Offsite, People and Procurement. You also have the opportunity to attend our training and networking events, gain CPD points, complete a self assessment and get a bespoke action plan, complete e-learning modules and various training resources.
